I am so ready for summer, i amped up a couple pairs of old shorts.... bad ass
so the leopard print ones i got from Mr Kate's DIY section (the link : http://www.mrkate.com/2012/07/22/diy-style-leopard-print-shorts/)
so first i attempted to bleach the shorts, because apparently parts turn black, but i ended up with more of a tie dye bleach appearance.... i tried a few times to no avail, so i just went with it, if you're making some, i would recommend moving around the shorts in the bleach while wearing proper gloves, then wash them in the washer (by themselves so they don't fuck up anything else) and then boil some water, put in a bucket or large pot, and add the dye (not dye is not good eating and you should really wash out whatever you used thoroughly) and then put your damp shorts in the dye, mixing constantly (with gloves on) until it reaches the desired colour, then you simply just throw them either back in the wash (if you plan to do a vinegar rinse afterwards) or go outside and run a hose over it like in Kate's diy video. then throw in the dryer.... wait a while and then when dry pain the leopard prints on them!
And for the second pair of shorts, i took an already light pair of shorts and added lace trim to the bottom edges, i hand sown them in, keeping my line strait without pins my following the sowing line, always being careful not to poke the needle all the way through and also doing so inside out because its just a shit ton easier!!!!
